Spark final day

Today we had to implement an incredibly efficient teamwork mentality to ensure we got the project done with only 24 hours until the presentation day. We still had to create most of the branded items and write up rationals, design boards and a presentation. To achieve this we split the group down into smaller subgroups that each tackled an element of branding or writing. I was working on popcorn packaging in the morning as well as writing up the rational.

I developed an idea that played on the CMYK colour scheme to promote collaboration by creating an interactive element to our festival. The concept involves cyan, magenta, yellow or key stripes being printed onto acetate to create a translucent representation of the colour. The idea is then for attendees of the festival (who would each receive a popcorn box in one of the colours) to interact with peers that may have a different colour to see what effect, mixing the colours may have. This furthers our theme of inspiration through collaboration in even this minor detail, making it relevant and effective. However I should have worked further on the maquette of the designs and got round to printing all of the colours and a 1:1 scale representation. The day rather ran away as I was working a lot on the wording of the rational and brief and ensuring the presentation was informative and accurate. In this sense I would say we distributed tasks effectively as all other work was completed but maybe delegation of the printing and manufacture of a few more sheets of acetate should have been initiated by me due to my split responsibilities. The rest of the group was split down into creating things like posters, tickets, information sheets and the final design boards that we needed to fulfil the brief. I would say we worked well as a team however we didn't have time to ponder ideas or have too much group discussion on every element today due to time constraints.

Here is the final rational:

"Spark Film Festival aims to inspire aspiring creatives through an eclectic mixture of cinema, curated
by industry professionals. A blind screening technique in which customers discover which of the
eleven films they are to watch, moments before viewing. This encourages lateral thinking by
removing the viewer from their comfort zone and offering an insight into the minds of senior
practitioners. The participants will be encouraged to apply their newly derived inspiration to a
collaborative exercise, improving peer networking skills and broadening creative outlook. Spark is
unique in the way that it brings together disparate films and designers to form coalesce creation.
This unifying factor is visually depicted by the CMYK colour scheme used throughout the branding.
Cumulatively the experience sparks creativity and encourages collaboration amongst aspiring
creatives from all walks of design, resulting in diversity and innovation."

And brief:

"SPARK Film Festival
Post-Film Brief
The idea behind the Spark film festival is to inspire collaboration between aspiring
designers. Following the screening of your film we would like you to complete a peer
engagement activity.
This activity will involve creating a piece of mixed media inspired by the film you just
watched. To encourage collaboration between different creative disciplines it is advised you
team up in groups of two or more. Your group should consist of creatives from different
disciplines, this cross field collaboration will widen your own creative outlook and result in
diverse final outcomes. This can be in any format or style e.g. clothing, animation, sculpture,
collage, graphic poster. You may interpret this brief as laterally as you like.
Final outcomes should be photographed and uploaded to instagram with the hashtag
#sparkfilmfest17. These may be featured on our Instagram @sparkfilmfestival. A panel of
judges will then select a winning entry to receive a £50 voucher at Colours May Vary
bookshop, Leeds."

The presentation has been completed with carefully selected wording ensuring we get all of the information across. It going to be just me and Ollie presenting so we've made it quite wordy so we don't forget anything.
